My Story

ABOUT

Picture this; an old church gymnasium, cold metal bleachers, screeching shoes as harsh as the stench an old church gym brings, and a little 8 year old girl with bangs, sitting on the top bleacher with an iPad and bluetooth keyboard on her lap.

This is where my story begins.

That little girl wasn’t playing CoolMathGames or Webkinz, she was writing. Creating a whole new world with every rapid tap on her keyboard. In fact, her little fingers typing non-stop except when to ask her dad how to spell ‘elephant,’ was so sucked in to her own story that not even the ear-piercing screeches of shoes on the court could pull her—me—out of it.

Following my twin brother to his various sports games when we were kids gave me the chance and opportunity to let my imagination run wild. To access my soul’s purpose, it’s most excited state. Of course, my little 8-year-old-self didn’t know the depth of what I was doing. Didn’t know I’d grow up to continue writing stories, or that what I was doing was going to change my life for the better.

I was just doing it. Out of the pure joy of it.

From football fields to old sweaty gyms, wherever we went, so did my dad’s iPad, attached to my hip like a magnet. While one of us was miserable, begging to go home, the other couldn’t wait to get there. I’ll give you a hint on which kid was excited; my brother HATES sports.

Hi, my name is Adeline Janke —

It’s so nice to meet you.

Now at age 23, still running off of my pure joy for writing and letting it carry me wherever it wishes—like the wind carrying a tumbleweed—I’m so happy to have finally have launched this space for this passion, for the love of writing and storytelling overall.

I fell in love with stories at a very young age. Watching Lord of the Rings frequently, always ending the day with a bedtime story, and using my imagination to create my own, I was always taking them in. They captivated me, sparked something within that caused me to eventually start offering to read (pretending to read) the stories myself when I was only a few years old. But when I learned to read, I learned fast. I excelled at English and eventually grew to love photography and film, my other favorite forms of storytelling. And it was then in my freshman year of high school when I knew I wanted to be a storyteller more than anything else. Jimmy Chin was my idol, having a huge passion for adventure and the outdoors as well, I was determined to be just like him. In high school I also developed a skill with watercolor and this led to me launching my first blog and online shop selling my artwork. Alongside this knowledge of being a natural-born creator and storyteller, I had always sensed that I was meant to be an entrepreneur, living my life completely fueled by my love for creativity.

10+ years after my love affair with writing started on those metal bleachers, I started to lose sight of this passion and found myself feeling so utterly and completely lost, as most high school graduates do. So, I decided to take a few semesters of college in an attempt to find what had become quietly tucked away in the depths of my heart—my purpose.

Those few semesters taught me that you can’t run away from what you were made to do. You might not always consciously know what that is, but trust me, it will always find a way to come back to you. It may take a few years of messing around in other subjects, distracting yourself with your other hobbies of being outdoors constantly and diving into your own spiritually (like me), but I promise you, eventually, that thing you couldn’t stop doing as a kid, what you found yourself doing all of the time out of the pure childlike joy of it, that will manifest in your current reality as your ultimate purpose in this life. Because it’s never changed. It’s always been there, quietly under the surface, waiting for you to be still enough, curious enough, to find it again.

Accessing my inner child brought me back to my passion for writing. Remembering how easy it was for me at 8 years old to write a book caused me to laugh at myself. It was so obvious, what I was meant to do. It’s the thing that makes me think the common though of, “I thought this was easy for everyone?” It’s my calling and always has been. And it is here on my website where my story evolves, becomes more than just a thing I do in my spare time. This is where my love for writing becomes my love for life. Where I’m able to do what I know I’m meant to be doing, for not only myself, but for the rest of the world. So thank you, fellow human, for being here. Your support means more than you know.

On my site, you will find my blog, what I call my journal, that oozes this passion and thrill for storytelling. Combining my love for writing with photography to better tell my stories, express my thoughts and share my insights on life, they’re meant to inspire, captivate and hopefully awaken something within that might’ve been lost before. My stories come from the soul. They’re whatever my heart desires to tell and to ultimately add to your life as my readers.

Additionally, this is where I will sell my products ranging from my published works (my first guided journal Life’s A Hike is out now!) to my other offerings down the road, including education, subscriptions and energy work (reiki). Keep your eye out for any updates and be sure to follow my journey on Instagram to stay informed!

You being here has qualified you as one of my favorite humans alive. After all, what is a story if there’s no one to take it in? This wouldn’t be possible without you. I love connecting, especially with my readers, so don’t be afraid to say hi. Collaborating with others is my ultimate dream, making new stories, new memories and creations is part of the human experience and purpose. So, feel free to reach out with inquiries, writing requests, and anything else your heart desires.
